You hold the square button down to sniff and the triangle button to dig like before. You also use the X button for the new options available in the game, along with certain minigames. The X button is used to talk to other cats/dogs, along with catching fish and bugs. You move with the left analog stick, and use the right analog stick to adjust the camera.
